The Follow-up Committee for the Implementation of the Recommendations of the Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review of the Kingdom of Bahrain convenes its 1st Meeting

The Follow-up Committee for the implementation by the government of the recommendations of the Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review of the Kingdom of Bahrain convened its 1st Meeting on Wednesday 18 October 2017 at the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)’s headquarters in Seef district, under the chairpersonship of Mr. Saeed bin Mohamed Al-Faihani and membership of Mr. Abdullah Al-Derazi. NIHR’s Vice Chairperson, Dr. Badr Adel, Head of the NIHR’s Committee on Civil and Political Rights, Ms. Maria Khouri, Head of the NIHR’s Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, Dr. Khalifa Al-Fadel, NIHR’s Acting Secretary-General and Mr. Yasser Shahin, NIHR’s Assistant Secretary-General.
During the meeting, the Committee discussed the recommendations stated by the report of the Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of the Kingdom of Bahrain contained in the Document No. A/HRC/36/3 adopted by the government in its reply contained in the Document No. A/HRC/36/3/Add.1.
The Committee commented the work of the High Coordinating Committee for Human Rights and the importance pf cooperation between the two sides in order to obtain information on the government’s plans to implement the adopted recommendations of the UPR.
